Safety Top Cap™
Safety Top Cap™ is our premium, durable, plastic fence cap profile, typically featured in a safety yellow color, primarily used to cover the top of the chain link fence on baseball outfields, to protect the ballplayer against bodily harm.
Safety Top Cap™ for chain link fences serves two purposes: First, the unique open “P” shaped design provides the most complete protection against bodily injury by covering the exposed knuckles or barbs on top of a chain-link fence. Second, it displays nicely as a decorative trim piece to complement any galvanized or colored chain link fence system.

What goes on top of a chain link fence to cover sharp edges?
A fence top cap. Safety Top Cap™ is a heavy-weight HDPE profile in an open “P” shape that snaps over the top of a chain link fence and covers the exposed knuckles or barbs. It’s most often specified in safety yellow for baseball outfields, and is also used at athletic fields, parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities. Other colors are available on request.
How is Safety Top Cap installed, and will it come off?
Snap it over the top of the fence and fasten it to the wire mesh with the steel hog-rings included in each package, through the three pre-drilled holes on every piece. The hog-ring attachment is permanent and resists vandalism. Each bag holds 5 caps and 15 hog rings, and a box covers 40 linear feet.
What is Safety Top Cap made of, and how long does it last?
It’s manufactured from Pexco PDS® high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with UV stabilizers, designed to endure high impact, resist the harmful effects of the sun, and withstand severe weather, salt water, sand, road dirt, most acids, alcohol, alkaline, ammonia, petroleum distillates, and common environmental pollutants. It’s made in the USA and carries a 15-year, pro-rata warranty against breakage under normal conditions. Cleaning is pressure washing with plain water.
